A WICKENBURG LEGACY. A NEW CHAPTER. ONE NAME MOVING FORWARD.

Effective November 1, 2026 Arizona Auto Tech and Fleet First Services will officially unite under one name: FLEET FIRST.

For us, this is more than a business announcement. It’s an opportunity to honor a piece of Wickenburg’s history while looking ahead to its next chapter.

Since 1991, Arizona Auto Tech has been a trusted part of Wickenburg’s automotive and RV community. For more than three decades, the business has served generations of customers, tackled challenging mechanical repairs, and become a familiar resource for RV service, parts, and supplies.

At the heart of that history are Dave Reed and Jackye Armstrong, the longtime owners who helped make Arizona Auto Tech what it is today.

A true family-owned, mom-and-pop business, Dave and Jackye built more than a recognizable name. Through hard work, personal service, and genuine relationships, they established a reputation rooted in the values that make a small town feel like home.

Their experience, dedication, extensive RV parts and supplies, and welcoming hospitality have made Arizona Auto Tech more than a repair shop. It’s been a familiar face, a trusted resource, and a valued part of this community.

That kind of legacy deserves more than a passing mention. It deserves our respect, our gratitude, and a place in the story of what comes next.

Dave and Jackye, thank you for the years you’ve invested, the customers you’ve served, and the business you’ve built. Your contributions to Wickenburg are something we’re proud to recognize and honored to carry forward.

A Natural Next Chapter

This isn’t the sudden joining of two unfamiliar businesses.

Since 2022, Fleet First has operated alongside Arizona Auto Tech, sharing a location, serving the same community, and witnessing firsthand the trust and relationships built over decades.

Now, we’re bringing those operations together as one business, one team, and one name moving forward.

What does this mean for our customers?

One Name: Fleet First. Beginning November 1, Arizona Auto Tech will no longer operate under a separate business name, but its history and the relationships behind it remain an important part of our foundation.

RV Parts and Supplies. The extensive RV parts and supplies that made Arizona Auto Tech a valuable resource will remain an important part of our operation. We’re proud to continue serving Wickenburg’s RV community.

Comprehensive Mechanical Services. From automotive and diesel repair to RVs, horse and travel trailers, commercial fleets, and heavy equipment, Fleet First remains committed to dependable workmanship. Mobile service calls and fleet maintenance are also available.

Small-Town Service. We understand that customers aren’t just looking for a repair shop. They’re looking for knowledgeable people, honest communication, and service they can trust. Those values remain at the heart of what we do.

When a business has been part of a community for more than 30 years, its name carries memories, relationships, and a great deal of history.

After a lot of thought, I’ve decided it’s time to bring Fleet First back to what it was originally built to do.

Over the years, we’ve gradually drifted further into general automotive repair than I ever intended. Moving forward, our primary focus will be diesel trucks, commercial fleets, heavy equipment, RVs, and trailers—the work Fleet First was founded on and where we can provide the greatest value to our customers.

While we will continue to accept select automotive repairs, they will be taken on strictly on a case-by-case basis at my discretion. This shift allows us to better serve the customers and industries we’re best equipped for while staying true to the vision Fleet First was built around.

Our goal has always been quality over quantity, and this change allows us to dedicate more time, attention, and resources to the customers who rely on us to keep their businesses—and their adventures—moving.

For anyone who currently has a vehicle in the shop or is already scheduled, don’t worry—nothing is changing for you. We will absolutely honor all existing appointments and complete the work we’ve committed to. This transition only applies to new requests moving forward.

To everyone who has trusted Fleet First with your vehicles over the years, thank you. Your support has meant more than you know, and I truly appreciate every customer who has walked through our doors. I’m excited for this next chapter and look forward to continuing to provide dependable, honest, high-quality service to our fleet, heavy equipment, diesel, RV, and trailer customers for years to come.

Factory diagnostic software for the major vehicle manufacturers costs an independent repair shop approximately $38,000 every year.

GM alone is more than $4,000 annually for the complete factory software access a professional shop may need. It is not an $800 or $900 expense when you account for the full system.

At that cost, a shop must sell approximately 231 one-hour diagnostic jobs every year just to recover the cost of the factory software subscriptions.

Those 231 hours have not paid the technician, purchased the laptops, bought the factory communication interfaces, covered training, paid insurance, kept the lights on or covered any other shop expense. They have only paid for access to the software needed to communicate with and properly diagnose modern vehicles.

Professional aftermarket scanners are useful. We own them, use them every day and they can point a technician in the right direction. However, even the expensive professional scanners are not consistently comparable to the actual manufacturer software.

Factory software can provide manufacturer-specific data, tests, relearns, guided procedures, module access, security functions and diagnostic information that may be incomplete, mislabeled or completely unavailable through an aftermarket scanner.

And this approximately $38,000 annual cost is not even for programming vehicles.

Module programming, calibration files, software updates installed into the vehicle, security credentials and manufacturer-specific programming access can all require additional subscriptions and fees.

Professional diagnosis is not simply plugging in a scanner and reading a trouble code. Before a shop diagnoses its first vehicle of the year, it may already have tens of thousands of dollars invested just to access the proper factory systems.

Estimate Policy

At Fleet First, we try to make this very clear up front: detailed estimates are not free on RVs, horse trailers, travel trailers, and similar units.

This policy has always been in place and is not a new charge, surprise fee, or added cost after the fact. Estimate work takes real technician time, and that time is billable.

Standard automotive estimates are often included as part of the repair process. RV and trailer work is different. These estimates can take several hours of technician time before any repair is approved or started.

Preparing an accurate estimate may require inspection, measurements, sourcing parts, pricing flooring, pricing lumber or structural materials, making phone calls to suppliers, checking availability, and calculating the labor needed to complete the job properly.

Fleet First is a multifaceted repair shop, and RV/trailer repairs often involve more than basic mechanical work. These jobs may include electrical, structural, flooring, fabrication, sealing, suspension, brake, bearing, lighting, and general repair work. Because of that, estimating these jobs takes real time and resources.

Specialty work, custom work, classic car restorations, restomods, fabrication, and unusual repair projects may not always be possible to estimate as a fixed-price job. In some cases, these jobs must be built and billed as time and materials due to unknown damage, hidden issues, parts availability, fabrication time, and changes that may come up once the work begins.

For that reason, RV, horse trailer, travel trailer, specialty, custom, and restoration-related estimates are billable. The estimate charge covers the time spent inspecting the unit, researching parts and materials, contacting suppliers, and preparing a proper repair estimate.

We try to make this clear before estimate work begins so customers know that technician time spent researching, sourcing, measuring, and preparing an estimate is billable time.
