🔧 2020 RAM ProMaster 3500 – Used Engine Replacement Gone Wrong! 🚐
At 1 Mi Taller Auto Repair, we believe in working smarter, not just harder! 💪
Our customer brought in a used engine for installation, with our shop responsible for labor only.
🚨 The first problem: After installing the first customer-supplied engine, we discovered that cylinder #2 had NO compression!
The customer then brought us a SECOND used engine.
🔍 This time, we took a different approach!
Instead of installing the entire engine again, our mechanics adapted a starter to perform a compression test BEFORE installation.
⚠️ The results? The second used engine had NO compression in THREE different cylinders!
✅ By testing the engine beforehand, we avoided another unnecessary installation and helped the customer avoid additional labor charges.
Two used engines. Both with compression problems. One important lesson: Always test a used engine before installation whenever possible!
