The Slamborghini – Embeesea Charger Art Car is For Sale.
A one-off fusion of 1980s supercar styling, contemporary art and classic Volkswagen engineering.
Far more than just another kit car, this extraordinary Embeesea Charger, affectionately nicknamed the “Slamborghini”, is a unique piece of automotive art created through a collaboration between artist Joel Poole of Populuxe and Paul Medhurst of renowned Volkswagen specialists Type 2 Detectives.
With its dramatic wedge-shaped profile, low-slung stance and outrageous Lamborghini-inspired styling, the Charger provided the perfect canvas for something truly different.
The Build
Beneath the striking bodywork sits a fully restored Volkswagen chassis, comprehensively rebuilt by Type 2 Detectives and fitted with all-new running gear, providing a freshly restored mechanical foundation for this unique creation.
The Art
Joel and Paul developed a bold design concept based around oversized lettering and expressive typography, complementing the Charger’s dramatic lines and giving it an unmistakable identity.
The transformation took place live at Skeg Vegas, one of the UK’s best-loved Volkswagen events, where Joel spent three days armed with brushes and rollers, creating the artwork in front of thousands of VW enthusiasts.
The result was a wonderfully unconventional rolling sculpture, combining old-school supercar styling with the energy and individuality of contemporary street art.
The Slamborghini was the first of the pair’s automotive art collaborations, later followed by the equally distinctive Ferrari Dino-inspired Karma.
