Put down the Vigorosa! (For now...)

We all want gorgeous, show-stopping blooms like this one, and a tub of Kirchhoffs Ludwig’s Vigorosa is usually our secret weapon. But if you're gardening here in Bloem, June is definitely NOT the time to use it. 🥶

Here is the quick lowdown on why you should keep that pink bucket in the shed for now, and what your roses actually need this month:

❌ Why feeding now backfires
Our freezing June nights mean your roses need to go completely dormant so they can rest up for spring. If you feed them now, you’ll trick the plant into pushing out tender new growth. The first heavy frost will burn those new shoots instantly, causing ugly die-back and stressing the whole bush.

🛠️ What to do instead this June:
Save it for spring: Keep your Vigorosa tucked away until mid-September, once your pruned bushes are actively growing again.

Hold off on pruning: It’s still too early! Keep those pruning shears packed away until mid-to-late July.

Water less: Your roses only need a deep soak once every week or two. Just remember to water on a warmer morning so it absorbs before the freezing night temperatures hit.

Mulch up: Layer some organic mulch around the base of the bushes to keep the roots nice and cozy against the frost.

Let your roses get their winter nap—they'll thank you with an explosion of color later this year! 🌸✨
