I started to have a peace of mind as an independent mechanic after learning to do or say the following⬇️
1. Dear Sir/Madam I’ve really tried hard to work on your car and it’s still showing me flames 🔥 i can’t even fall asleep at night, can you please take it to another mechanic, you don’t have to pay me since your car is not fixed.
2. I don’t have experience on such issue or car so I won’t be able to assist you.
3. After diagnosing and replacing a sensor i always advise the owner to drive the car for 2 to 3 days if the issue doesn’t come back then you can pay me, if the owner disappears like most of them do without giving feedback then it’s minors 1 disloyal client😉
4. Acting dumb and asking other mechanics questions😂
5. Swallowing my pride and posting cars I failed to fix, so that people can comment with their experience and i use it to repair and diagnose cars🔥😂
6. Making sure i tell people that I don’t know everything about cars🔥
7. Understanding that most clients that bad mouth other mechanics (my colleagues) are normally the problem and not their cars😂
8. I’ve also come to realize that most mechanics are not the problem when it comes to their yards being full of unfixed cars, i also have cars in my yard and owners don’t want to fetch them😂 either because of lack of funds/ parts or you told the owner you can’t fix it.
9. Not being greedy
10. Not competing or copying anyone
11. Taking my time to diagnose serious issues.
12. Not using clients money to diagnose cars, buy this, buy that until the problem is fixed🚫 if I don’t know I don’t know 🤷🏽♂️
13. If a client is in a hurry I normally don’t assist them, I don’t do quick jobs🤝
14. Q bond, Cable ties and Silicone in unnecessary areas not with me, I’m not a siliconator, go buy that seal and go buy that broken pipe🚫😂
15. Never giving up, sometimes it’s just a simple thing as Retiming the car or changing the water pump then you’re good to go.
16. Never relying on a client’s story when they tell me the history of their car and their previous mechanic, Clients lie sometimes to not be seen as negligent and reckless and mechanics also lie just to get paid and get rid of the car.
