*Stance is not a crime- yes or no?*
Today I sat down again with our Traffic Officials, members who have some 30 years of experience in the sector and who understand the national legislation extremely well.
It's important to separate this topic very clearly: cosmetic improvements on a vehicle is very different to performance upgrades, the latter being for those wanting to engage in street racing activities.
Our office receives a massive amount of traffic related complaints every month from two categories: illegal street racing and that of taxi caused chaos.
Upgrading a vehicles performance capabilities are strictly prohibited through numerous parts of national legislation, besides that being where no vwhicle, irrespective of its capabilities, may be driven on a public road at speeds of more than 120km/h.
Many racing enthusiast or speed-lovers, do want to travel at higher speeds, but this then can only be done on a road not specified as a public road.
With cosmetic upgrades, for vehicle not upgraded for performance reasons but purely for visual aesthetics, I again sat down with our officials and looked deeply into the specifications of the national governments law and we are going to be doing more work on this, as well as taking further legal opinion. We will keep the public and car enthusiasts updated on this as we progress.
We can never compromise on safety however, where any vehicle is driven on a public road, that of the safety of the driver but more so that of other fellow motorists who share the same road.
