Laeger’s Banshee DirtWheels Feature…

I grew up reading Dirt Wheels Magazines that were hard to come by and expensive back home. I remember selling old bicycle parts I found in the garage (which probably belonged to my brother) just to buy a copy. What I paid back then would be close to $20 in today’s money.

Excited to have the bike featured in the letters section of the May 2025 issue.

3&4 Wheel Action February 1995…

Came across an old shootout from the February ’95 issue of 3&4 Wheel Action—Doug Eichner’s Laeger’s Banshee vs. TRX250R.

Horst CR500 Linkage…

Both the Banshee and TRX250R run a ’91 CR500 linkage in the rear—Laeger’s go-to setup back in the day.

The original OEM linkage was worn out, so I took the opportunity to design my own. The knuckle is machined from 7075 aluminum, while the link arm is a mix of Domex 700 and EN19 steel.

I also machined logos into both parts for a bit of extra style. Pretty stoked with how they turned out!

Banshee cockpit…

Some of the smaller features include a Cascade Innovations fuel cap, a Works Connection breather, a Works connection hour meter and a carbon tank cover.

Custom Front & Rear Hubs…

I designed these hubs specifically for the Laeger’s Banshee and TRX250R, which both use 400EX front and rear hubs. Made from 7075 aluminum with bullet-style studs, the front hubs feature tapered bearings for improved durability compared to the OEM ball bearings.

Dirt Wheels Magazine article on the Duncan Racing International, Inc. Doug Eichner Laeger's ProTrax Banshee. This certainly jump started my interest in these bikes when I was younger.

Hot-Rod Banshee's. Doug Eichner has competed in a to­tal of 30 Grand National events, win­ning 18 of them and boasting a 0 DNF record.

Showcasing Custom One-Off Parts…

I designed and manufactured several one-off parts for both the Banshee and TRX250R. Here’s a closer look at a few of them.

Banshee Billet Front Engine Mounts…

These mounts are crafted from 7075 billet aluminum and include a SS304 stainless steel spring mount for the exhausts. A few tweaks will be made for the next version—such is the process when creating unique parts.
