QJ Motor SRK800
I have very mixed feels. Mostly I feel tricked.
Buckle up, sorry, this is going to be a wrong read.
First off, ITS NOT A SPORT BIKE, it’s a STREET bike that identifies as a sport bike.
Its competitors are CBR600F’s and GSXR’s 600, not CBR’s, GSXR’s, ZX6’s or R6’s
First off, the claims – social media will lead you to believe that is 123hp, well, not exactly.
There is a 123hp version, there is also a domestic 102 hp version, but most of the world will get the 95 hp version and that’s 95hp on the crank, in the real world on the road, you’ll be closer to 80 to 85hp. That’s quite far from to 123hp that keeps coming up on social media.
The motor is a copy of a CBR650 (a street bike, not a sport bike), the motor has been stroked out to a 721 cc. This give a lot more bottom end torque but sacrifices top end power. Long stroke means the pistons travel a lot more, reach higher speeds, which puts more strain on the crank, so rpm must be limited. So it really cant compete with high revving supersort bikes that live between 12 and 16000rpm.
It also has cast pistons like a street bike, not forged pistons like a sport bike.
The frame is steel not aluminium, like a street bike. Its wheelbase and weight are also very similar to a street bike (its heavy and long)
The SRK800 is based on a few bikes, from what I can tell…
Fairings, the look of the bike and the way its assembled are a copy of BMWs, Engine and some mechanical features are Honda and there are a few plugs that look like Suzuki.
Woolich doesn’t have software for this bike, and I was not about to get a handheld to load some other map from another bike in another country that some guy said is good.
- I am accountable for the results and I don’t trust results I see online when the tuner posts himself dancing or imagining hes on a race track at full tuck going through all the gears on the bike instead of dyno graphs.
So, I fitted a power commander, just to correct the fueling, to keep the bike safe, smooth it out and improve reliability.
This bike that I had for 2 weeks had the Cat removed and a beautiful link pipe made up by Barker.
The fueling strange on this bike, its super rich at the bottom and lean on top.
I initially tuned from 5% to 15% throttle, leaning it out a bit for fuel economy, but it made the bike very aggressive and jerky, probably because of the ridiculously short gearing .
You’ll see form the graphs that even though it revs up to about 11000, nothing really happens after 9000, so I stopped dyno runs just after 10000 for mechanical sympathy.
I also aimed for a slightly richer Afr 12.8 - 13.2, because of its cast pistons
Correcting the fuelling did make a huge difference, bigger than I expected.
Its definitely not built to the same standards as German and Japanese bikes and judging it on marketing hype or specs compared to other bikes is misleading but buying it on what you get for the money is a brilliant deal. For what you are paying, its fantastic.
