FACEBOOK WARNING POST
π¨ MARKETPLACE SALE TURNS INTO ARMED HIJACKING AND BANK ACCOUNT WIPEOUT π¨
Please read this carefully and SHARE widely. What started as an ordinary Facebook Marketplace sale became a terrifying armed robbery that has left a local family traumatized and financially devastated.
The victimβs family has asked that others be warned before the same happens to them.
According to the victim, they advertized an item for sale on FaceBook Marketplace. A man contacted them sounding completely genuine and polite. He explained that his βbrotherβ would come to inspect the item. Nothing initially appeared suspicious.
The so-called brother then contacted the sellerβs husband and arranged that they meet at a bank the following day so that payment could safely be made via EFT. Again, everything sounded legitimate. The criminals deliberately created an atmosphere of trust.
The husband arrived outside the bank expecting an ordinary transaction. That is when the nightmare began.
The suspect told him they first needed to stop at a police station so that paperwork could be completed because the purchased item was supposedly being taken βacross the border.β
Before the victim could realize what was happening, another armed man jumped into the back of the bakkie with a firearm while the original suspect got into the front. The victim was now trapped.
The suspects drove him to another area where, at gunpoint, they forced him to unlock and access his banking app. Within minutes, the criminals allegedly emptied the familyβs bank accounts while threatening his life.
After taking everything they could, the suspects simply got out of the vehicle and disappeared.
The family is now waiting for SAPS detectives and desperately hoping CCTV footage may help identify those responsible before another innocent person becomes a victim.
