During Ramadan, Mr Parker approached me and, quite unexpectedly, shared what he described as the saddest story he had heard that weekend. At the time, I never imagined we would become part of it.
A close friend of his — let’s call him the “Good Samaritan” — is someone who regularly gives to charity. This time, however, he chose to focus on helping one individual in a more meaningful way. He came across a single mother caring for her son, who lives with a rare condition called Prader-Willi Syndrome, along with Level 3 Autism.
Amid the challenges of her daily life, she was also dealing with severe car troubles. Previous mechanics had left her vehicle in an unfinished state that seemed as if the car could never be repaired, leaving her completely stranded.
Without hesitation, the Good Samaritan stepped in and purchased a brand-new engine for her.
We were truly grateful & privileged for the opportunity to be involved and assist by installing it, helping get her back on the road.

A Battle Most People Will Never See
My son is only a child…
But his body fights battles most adults would struggle to survive.
He lives with Prader-Willi syndrome🧡 and Autism spectrum disorder – Level 3.💙
Two diagnoses.
One fragile little body.
Prader-Willi affects everything — his muscles, his hunger signals, his hormones, his digestion, even his breathing.
Autism Level 3 means he cannot always tell me when something hurts.
He cannot explain the cramps, the nausea, the burning in his chest, or the pressure in his stomach.
He also lives with severe intellectual disability.
Mentally, he functions around the level of a 12-month-old baby.
Because of this, he is not potty trained.
There is no awareness of bladder or bowel control.
There is p*e and poo daily.
On the floor.
On bedding.
On clothes.
Constant cleaning.
Constant disinfecting.
Constant laundry.
And unlike many children with Prader-Willi who have a high pain tolerance…
My son feels pain intensely.
Small discomfort becomes overwhelming.
Stomach cramps become screams.
Medical procedures become trauma.
He battles:
• Chronic constipation and dangerous faecal backing
• Watery overflow stools and incontinence due to impaction
• Colitis and inflammatory flare-ups
• Gastro infections that escalate quickly
• Lung and breathing complications
• Severe sensory overload
With faecal backing, people assume constipation means no stool.
But in his case, the bowel becomes impacted… and watery stool leaks around the blockage.
He lives with incontinence.
He cannot control it.
It burns his skin.
It adds humiliation to pain.
And then there is the hunger.
Prader-Willi 🧡causes a constant, relentless drive to eat.
His brain does not register fullness the way yours does.
He feels hungry… even after eating.
But autism 💙adds another layer — extreme food selectivity.
So imagine being constantly hungry…
Yet only able to tolerate certain foods.
Fighting hunger.
Fighting textures.
Fighting your own body.
And then there is pica.💚
He does not always understand what is food and what is not.
He eats wood.
He chews sponge from the bed.
He tears pieces of his clothes and ingests them.
He swallows things that can block his intestines.
Sometimes… he even eats his own skin.💔
Not because he wants to.
Not because he knows.
But because his brain and body misfire in ways we cannot see.
Every room must be monitored.
Every object must be considered a risk.
Nothing is ever fully safe.
And skin picking — another silent battle.
He picks until there are wounds.
Wounds reopen.
Scars form.
I clean, cover, protect… and pray they heal.
He also lives on multiple supplements and medications to support his digestion, immunity, and overall health.
Many of these are not provided by government hospitals.
They are out of pocket.
Month after month.
Because without them, his body struggles even more.
Behind his meltdowns is often pain.
Behind his behaviours is biology.
Behind his exhaustion is a nervous system in overload.
Some nights I don’t sleep.
I monitor his breathing.
I watch his stomach.
I pray his bowels move.
I pray he doesn’t choke.
I pray I don’t miss something silent and life-threatening.
This is not “just autism.”💙
This is not “just picky eating.”💚
This is not “just behaviour.”
This is complex genetics.💚💙🧡
This is neurological dysregulation.
This is severe intellectual disability.🩷
This is medical fragility.
This is constant supervision.
This is financial strain.
This is fear.
This is strength.
He is six years old.
And he fights battles most people will never see.
This is our reality.
This is our unseen war.
And he is the bravest soul I know. 🤍
