Importance of a Radiator = your engine’s AC system.Without it, the engine cooks itself in minutes.

Why it’s critical
1. Controls engine temp:
Combustion hits ∼2000°C. Coolant absorbs that heat in the block, then the radiator dumps it to outside air. Ideal engine temp is ∼90-105°C. Too hot = metal warps, oil breaks down.

2. Prevents catastrophic damage:
Overheat once badly and you risk: blown head gasket, warped/cracked cylinder head, seized pistons.

3. Keeps oil + transmission happy:
Most radiators have a built-in transmission cooler. Hot ATF fluid kills gearboxes fast.

4. Heater/defroster works:
Cabin heat comes from hot coolant passing through the heater core. No proper cooling system = no defrost in winter.

What kills radiators:
- Clogs: Old coolant turns to sludge, blocks tubes → poor flow, hot spots
- Leaks: Plastic end tanks crack, fins corrode. Even small leaks drop pressure → coolant boils at lower temp
- Bent fins: Less airflow = less cooling, especially in traffic/AC on

Rule of thumb: If your temp gauge creeps past halfway in traffic, or you smell sweet coolant + see steam, pull over. 30 sec of overheating can do more damage than 30,000km of normal wear.

Radiator, thermostat, water pump, and coolant all work as a team. Weak radiator = the whole system fails.
