In Loving Memory of Mr Ted Lawlor.
The original founding father of LSC.
Rory’s Dad.
A loving husband, father and grandfather.
And a man whose legacy is woven into the very fabric of our business.
For those who knew him, you will remember that Mr Lawlor had the original “Facebook” long before Facebook existed 🤣 — delivery photographs proudly displayed on the walls of the dealership, capturing generations of happy customers taking delivery of their new vehicles.
But those photographs represented so much more than cars being sold. They represented relationships.
Ted’s customers became friends. Many of them returned to him time and time again, purchasing vehicles through him for decades. His exceptional customer service, honesty and genuine care for people created relationships that lasted a lifetime.
He was a kind man, always ready with a story — usually one involving Umfolozi — and almost inevitably ending with his famous “whatever”. 😂
But behind that gentle nature was a man who ran a tight ship. His standards were high, his work ethic unquestionable, and his ethics were something he never compromised on. He expected those around him to do things properly, to treat people fairly and to uphold the reputation of the business he had built.
And perhaps it is particularly poignant that the year we chose to return to our roots and rebrand the business as LSC Motor Group is the same year that we said goodbye to him.
We could not have known how meaningful that would become.
LSC is more than a name. It is a legacy — built on hard work, integrity, relationships and generations of people who cared deeply about doing business the right way.
As we move forward, we can only strive to hold the LSC name in the highest esteem, just as Ted did.
We will continue to carry the name with pride.
We will continue to build on what he started.
And we will continue to honour the values that made LSC what it is today.
Rest easy, Mr Lawlor.
