Hoekom maak die bends in 'n exhaust saak? 🔧
'n Exhaust moet deur 'n redelik beperkte spasie onder 'n voertuig pas. Daar is enjinonderdele, die chassis, suspension en ander komponente waarvoor plek gemaak moet word. Dis waar die bends inkom.

Maar 'n bend is nie net 'n manier om die pyp om 'n hindernis te kry nie. Die vorm en radius van die draai kan ook die vloei van uitlaatgasse beïnvloed. 'n Baie skerp draai kan meer weerstand veroorsaak as 'n goed ontwerpte, gladde draai.
Die regte ontwerp hang natuurlik ook af van die pyp se deursnee, die enjin en waarvoor die voertuig gebruik word. Dis hoekom 'n exhaust nie net oor hoe dit klink gaan nie. Hoe die pype loop en bymekaar pas, maak ook saak.

1998 was a pretty interesting year for exhausts.

Ferrari turned up with the F300 and moved the exhausts on their F1 cars.
Instead of having the pipes exit underneath the car, they came out through the top of the bodywork alongside the engine. It wasn't just something Ferrari did because it looked different. The position of the exhaust affected the aerodynamics around the back of the car, as well as the way the engine and bodywork were packaged.
And remember, this was a 3.0-litre V10 Formula 1 engine.
The exhaust was part of the whole package.

1998 was also the year TNT started.
So while Ferrari was experimenting with where to put the exhaust on a V10 F1 car, TNT was getting started with performance exhaust systems.

Different cars.
Different budgets.
Same goal - enhanced vehicle performance.

Back in 1998, the TNT name was already known throughout the country for working with performance exhausts, branch manifolds and mufflers.

The branch manifolds were designed around gas flow, the flanges were laser cut for accurate fitment, and TNT was already manufacturing its own mufflers.

Fast forward 28 years and things have changed a bit.
Exhausts are still a big part of what we do, but there's a lot more going through the workshop these days.
Custom exhaust systems.
Mine and truck exhausts.
Generator exhausts.
Frames and bars.
Cattle rails.
Game viewing frames.
Roof racks.
Aluminium welding.
Brake skimming.
Custom fabrication.

From 1998 to 2026, the way we enhance vehicle performance improved but our love for a proper car and the sound of a modified exhaust is still the same
