The Torque and Throttle Performance Index is our standardised testing system for comparing motorcycles using measurable, repeatable challenges rather than specifications and opinions alone. Each motorcycle completes five tests:

0–100 km/h acceleration
60–120 km/h acceleration in third gear
80–140 km/h acceleration in sixth gear
100–0 km/h emergency braking
Handling test — ten cones positioned five metres apart, followed by a U-turn and a return through the course

The recorded times are combined to produce the motorcycle’s overall Performance Index result. This allows viewers and readers to compare motorcycles across different categories while still considering their intended purpose, price and riding experience. Honest Reviews, Different Perspectives

Together, they bring different motorcycles, riding backgrounds and perspectives to the platform. Kayla Nortier serves as editor, helping shape each story and ensuring Torque & Throttle’s articles remain clear, accurate and consistent. These different perspectives are an important part of our reviews. A brand-new Suzuki scooter, a rainy Johannesburg morning, a museum full of illusions, and a group of very wet motorcycle journalists! What could possibly go wrong? 😂

Welcome to another episode of The Launch Report, where we join Suzuki Motorcycles South Africa at their brand-new headquarters for the official launch of the 2026 Suzuki Access 125!

Suzuki's latest 125cc scooter promises affordable, practical and stylish everyday commuting, with impressive fuel economy and modern technology.

But this wasn't your typical motorcycle launch!

We hit the streets of Johannesburg, braved the rain, took part in an illusion-themed scavenger hunt at the Museum of Illusions, and even got a behind-the-scenes tour of Suzuki South Africa's new offices and automotive parts warehouse!

The 2026 Triumph Tiger 900 Alpine Edition and Desert Edition share the same 888cc T-Plane triple producing 106.5 hp and 90 Nm, but they are designed for very different adventures.

Tiaan rides the road-focused Alpine, while Ben takes on the off-road-focused Desert.

We compare their handling, comfort, suspension, brakes, electronics, build quality, fuel range and real-world riding experience to determine which Tiger 900 you should buy.

The Alpine costs R275,000 and offers cast wheels, a lower seat, lighter weight and electronically adjustable rear suspension. At R295,000, the Desert adds tubeless spoked wheels, longer-travel Showa suspension, additional protection and Off-Road Pro mode.

We also put the Alpine & Desert through the Torque & Throttle Performance Index, including:
