Variant Trailers Australia (Always Moving Forwards) have now been selling large quantities of trailers and sizes across the Australian Market.

With that we fully support all our Australian customers with parts backup. Variants trailers are sold in more than 150 dealers, which are spread out across the country. We are now entering the Australian market with new dealers. We are known for producing some of the best trailers available in the European market.

1 June 1975 so the company Variant for the first time the light of day. Initially, the brand created for the production of smaller hobby trailers where production took place in a small workshop, which was located behind the founder's private home. In 1977, Niels' brother Jens Buhl employed by the company, and the year after, the two brothers decided to become associates. In the beginning there were only produced small hobby trailers for private use. Today, the production, in addition to hobby trailers, machine-trailers, boat trailers, cargo trailers and construction trailers that are being used to transport various materials.

Check the machine's track width as well as its weight.

A tracked dumper or a small machine has to fit between the trailer sides and clear the ramp gate, so the width of the tracks matters as much as the weight on the spec sheet. Variant trailers come in a range of deck widths and lengths, built in Denmark.

Hitching alone shouldn't take two people.

The jockey wheel carries the weight of the front while you wheel the trailer to the ball. The Variant 3521 P4 has one fitted, behind a KNOTT coupling.

Your car's handbook gives two towing figures: one for a trailer with brakes, and a lower one for a trailer without. A small trailer like this has no brakes, so the lower figure is the one that counts.

The Variant 205 S1 is a 750 kg trailer (ATM: the most it can weigh with the load on). It weighs 120 kg empty, so it carries up to 630 kg.

Easy check before you buy: find the unbraked figure in the towing section of your handbook. If it's under 750 kg, keep the trailer and everything on it under that number, every trip. Not sure what your car can tow? Send us the make and model and we'll go through it with you.

Pipe doesn't get shorter on the way to site.

The Variant 2716 R10 is a pipe trailer with a 9.94 m load area and a 53 cm load height. Removable corner posts and built-in tie-down brackets along the side edges hold the load in place.

A wet ramp is where a loading job can go wrong. Mud on your boots or on a machine's tracks makes a smooth ramp slippery fast.

The Variant 2716 B3 beavertail plant trailer has anti-slip tread plates, and the deck sits 33 cm off the ground, so the climb onto it is short.

An enclosed trailer shouldn't use up its weight allowance before you load it.

The Variant 1315 C2 Black Edition weighs 365 kg empty. That leaves 985 kg of payload on a 1,350 kg ATM.

A full sheet of ply or plasterboard should lie flat on the trailer floor, not lean against the sides.

The Variant 3518 X3 has a floor 3.15 m long and 1.75 m wide inside, so standard 2.4 x 1.2 m sheets sit flat with room to spare. All four aluminium sides open and lift off, so you can slide a stack on from the side instead of lifting it over the top.

Before you drive off, strap the stack down. Flat sheets can catch the wind at speed, even heavy ones. There are six tie-down hooks inside. Check the straps again after the first few kilometres, because a load settles.

Driving a car onto a trailer for the first time feels harder than it is. Most of it comes down to a gentle slope and taking it slowly.

On the Variant 3552 UX, the deck tilts to 11 degrees on a hydraulic hand pump, so there are no loose ramps to line up. A 90 cm ramp on gas struts at the back takes the wheels up onto the deck.

A few habits for the first few loads:
- Check the car weighs less than the trailer's 2,540 kg payload.
- Have someone stand off to the side and guide you on, straight and slow.
- Strap the car down at all four corners. There are 8 tie-down hooks on the deck.

A flat battery shouldn't leave you standing next to a full tipper.

The Variant 3517 TB tips on an electric hydraulic pump, with a manual emergency pump as the back-up. It's a 3-way tipper, so you run it from a corded remote and it tips to the left, the right or the rear.
