Our current Flying Fish Yachtmaster students have been working through the powerboat component of their programme, developing the practical skills needed to operate safely and confidently on the water.

So, why is powerboating part of Yachtmaster training?

Because being a well-rounded skipper means understanding more than just sailing. Powerboat training builds essential skills in boat handling, close-quarters manoeuvring, safety procedures and decision-making — all vital when managing a vessel and crew in real-world conditions.

⛵ Dinghy sailing: an important part of the Yachtmaster journey!

Our latest Yachtmaster students have officially completed their dinghy sailing component in Sydney!

You might wonder why dinghy sailing is part of a Yachtmaster course. Sailing smaller boats is a fantastic way to develop a deeper understanding of wind, sail trim, balance and boat handling. With immediate feedback from every adjustment, students can refine their sailing techniques and build skills that transfer to larger yachts.

It’s all about developing confident, capable sailors from the ground up. Well done to the crew on completing this stage of their training! 👏
