🔋 COLD WEATHER EXPOSES WEAK BATTERIES

A battery that seemed fine in warm weather may struggle when temperatures fall. Slow cranking, dim lights during startup or needing an occasional boost can be early signs that the battery or charging system needs attention.

🚗 COULD YOUR GDI ENGINE NEED ATTENTION?

Some GDI engines with intake-valve deposits may develop a rough idle, hesitation, reduced performance or misfires.

Those symptoms can also come from ignition, fuel-system and other mechanical issues, so they don't prove that carbon deposits are the cause. Diagnosis is important before recommending a cleaning service.

🔎 A WARNING LIGHT IS A STARTING POINT

A scan tool can identify the system reporting a fault, but the code does not automatically tell you which part to replace.

Good diagnosis combines the code with symptom checks, live data, electrical testing and a physical inspection. That helps separate the failed component from wiring, connection or mechanical problems that can create similar symptoms.

Testing first can prevent unnecessary parts replacement and help target the real cause.

🌡️ COOLANT LOSS NEEDS ATTENTION

A small puddle can be an early warning. Watch for coolant beneath the vehicle, a sweet smell, frequent top-ups or a temperature gauge that starts climbing.

Never remove a cooling-system cap while the engine is hot. If the temperature rises toward the hot zone, stop safely and shut the engine off to help prevent more serious damage.

Finding the source early can protect the engine and turn an intermittent symptom into a clear diagnosis.

🔧 WHY CAN CARBON BUILD UP IN GDI ENGINES?

In a traditional port-injected engine, gasoline passes over the intake valves. In many gasoline direct-injection (GDI) engines, fuel is injected straight into the combustion chamber instead.

That means the intake valves don't get the same fuel-washing effect. Oil vapour and other deposits can gradually accumulate on them. The amount varies by engine design, condition and use.

This is why APS Automotive is sharing an educational series about GDI engines and our Kleen-Flo cleaning service. Understanding the cause comes before deciding on a service.

🌡️ COLDER AIR CAN LOWER TIRE PRESSURE

As outdoor temperatures fall, tire pressure often drops too. Check all four tires when they’re cold and use the recommended pressure on the driver-door placard—not the maximum number printed on the tire sidewall.

If one tire loses pressure faster than the others or the warning light keeps returning, have the tire and valve inspected.

Correct pressure supports predictable handling, even tread wear and fuel efficiency.

🔍 DIRECT INJECTION: WHY INTAKE CARE MATTERS
